OUR TEAM

Melissa,

Founder & Artistic Director

What's your role at Waekura?

I'll take care of everything "that shows". The creation of the jewellery, but also the communication and artistic direction as a whole.

What is your best memory and anecdote of the Waekura adventure?

My best memory is the opening of our first pop-up. I was so proud to have the keys! Proud to see the name of our little brand on the front.

For the record, we have so many! In the beginning we were in our studio and stored our envelopes in the oven and the jewellery under the sofa. It was more of an office than an apartment. Another funnier one, I absolutely wanted to go to the hairdresser's before the opening of the shop. Of course I didn't have time! I went to buy a shampoo, a towel and a hairdryer in the Monop' next door and I did it in the shop's kitchen.

What's your favorite piece of jewelry?

I love all of our jewelry but especially our matching necklaces. I love the idea that everyone has a secret code on their jewelry that only they can understand.

Philip,

Director of Operations

What's your role at Waekura?

Unlike Melissa, I take care of everything the customers don't see. From financial management to logistics to e-shop development, I like to touch everything and learn by myself. I also like to pass on my knowledge to my team so that they can develop new skills and responsibilities. We are a young team with a lot of ambitions and I really want each member to feel fully involved in the development of the brand. In short, my role is to create and develop the best possible organization so that our customers enjoy the best shopping experience.

What is your best memory of the Waekura adventure?

It's hard to pick just one! When you go for it, adrenaline is constantly present. You experience things more intensely and every moment is an emotionally charged moment. If I had to choose just one, I would take our very beginnings, when we did everything in our 20m2 Parisian studio. I still remember our little lounge used as an order preparation workshop, our photo studio room or those endless evenings preparing our first clients' orders for Christmas 2017. It wasn't an easy time, but looking back, I'm so proud of how far we've come. I will do it again without hesitation!

Waekura in three words?

Customer Experience - Ambition - Entrepreneurship

Coline,

Retail Project Manager

What's your role at Waekura?

I am a Retail Project Manager so I will do everything to make your in-store experience the best it can be!

What's your favorite piece of jewelry?

The Emy ring, a basic ring whose irregularity makes all the originality.

Waekura in three words?

Freshness - spontaneity - freedom. And if I'm allowed a fourth word, I'd say laugh, because we laugh a lot at Waekura!
